Poetry helps you go and see
as someone else instead
like trading someone's eyeballs and putting them in your own head
I could just tell you something, but you might not get it
as a poem, an inserted minds image shifts perspective
ever wonder how Ghengis khan ruled a continent before telecommunications?
with a vast army of illiterate men, conquering all kinds of nations?
through word of mouth, but how could a message be remembered?
and not change from one to another, from August to December?
how could he be in Korea and give orders to Afghanistan?
surely something would get jumbled, passed from man to man
he sent messages through poetry, look it up
because a poem can get in your mind with a hook and tug
it escorts you on a journey and displays ideas the way it planned to
if poetry can conquer almost all of Asia, imagine what else it can do

Poetry's Power
#AvengeFloyd
He'll never be back
Father of two that rolled with DJ Screw
H-town to Minnesota for a new start
keeping kids out of gangs with a true heart
he was big Floyd in the third ward
we send his words into the world
the kind of man we need
the kindness we could see
a soul that planted seeds
silenced by a knee
another unarmed black man killed by a white cop
Those protesting for haircuts couldn't quite stop
these white cops from killing black kin,
the constitution wasn't there for him
it sat in a vault and didn't do shit
rich politicians that talk about freedom?
This spot, the campaign trail didn't lead them
the pro life protesters must have been busy
caring more about a zygote
than a lynching of black folks
You can't oppress
and not expect
to be met
a cause with effect
newton's third law
will ensure raw
it's gonna fall
to avenge them all
Avenge Emmett Till & Rodney King
Philando Castile & Joseph Mann
Eric Garner & Alton Sterling
Breonna Taylor & Sandra Bland
Ahmad Arbury & Rekia Boyd
Freddie Gray, Meagan Hockaday,

The Present's Present
Allow my present
Allow my present self to present
Allow my present self to present this
present
It's the present
Bodies of atoms of cells
Bodies on planets
Organelles of the cell
Particles in the atom
Systems of the body
Systems of the planets
Orbits of the planets and the atom
Part of a galactic shell
This amazement can't be contained
This engagement happening in the brain
When I'm sad and need some reversal of
mentality
I think unclad of the universe and
become happy
One second of being present
and the mind would explode
trying to handle the load
way too much to comprehend
yet here we are, perplexed
the complexity is relenting
disorienting, it shouldn't exist
but it does, persisting in flux
in between bosons and galaxies
a big bang and entropy casualties
non sensical light and dark energies
biochemical fights rage in our bodies
electricity goes back and forth in our
heads
thoughts zap along through neurons
until we are gone, dead and forgotten
eventually.
But until then, every femtosecond
every atom with us is sacred
every chance to understand more
every stance against what we abhor
must be seized and not wasted,
we have it within us to all be the
greatest
the most compassionate and curious “we”
we can be
the best culmanation of humanity we can
see
to enhance how we can our gifted time
segment
in the present
Up for a spin?

Gut Manufacture
Heightened
memory machine
Sensory
of every scene
Vivid
sound and scent
Moments
archived for later
The
way that time was meant
To
be felt, intensely
Locate
or create meaning relived
Past
reflected into now
Appreciate
time's fleeting gift
Massive
redwood from a sprout
Moments
change and become us
We
are the sum of events
That
we succumb to, that shape us
Time
is a jagged spiral
Not
a line
We
climb troughs and peaks in a cycle
It
stops in our mind, repeats and stays present
It
becomes who we are
Personality
is memory
That
we can't forget
A
reality alone that is ours
How
we feel and make sense
The
documentary that we direct
The
experience we etch in steel
What
percolates into our essence
And
long after memories fade,
And
neurons with age wash away
Just
the important moments remain
In
our gut, as feelings we can't explain
As
the best parts of the final amount
Let's
make them count

Second Count
Don't let em flip
The calendar days
Make every first count
Make every second count
Make every second second count
This will wisp pass
Moment gone
Last
Second like it
No way to know
It'll come
Next
Go to past
Learn it's ways now
Come again
Check
Hear it fly?
See it come from
Far to close
Most
Make it with it
Not guaranteed
Nothing is
Leap
Make it deep
Not under six
Feet of clay
Still
Is a good day
The calendar days
Make every first count
Make every second count
Make every second second count
This will wisp pass
Moment gone

Flip the Eyes
Let the back light shine
Up in your mind
Flip the eyes
See the Brain
See thoughts pulsate
Bias Extinguish
Glide cognition
Bar the discard of specifics to for generalities
Familiarity can deceive, it seems better
We believe if it's repeated, or if we already think it
We think our shit ain't stinkin
Defend what gets the cheddar
Flaws in others are easy to see
We're blind to our own
We notice what's closest when light isn't shown
Sparks in brains keep you alive
If refrained from believing lies
Skull's electrified fat
Can project anything adapted to the world
Flip back the eyes, Truth taps on perception's door
Open to that, bias ignored
